Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to provide nutrition services to clients in a variety of settings within a district. The successful candidate will conduct patient nutritional assessments and evaluations, develop and monitor nutritional care plans, and provide education and support to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient nutritional assessments and evaluations in clinic, school, and community settings
  • Develop and monitor nutritional care plans and food packages
  • Certify clients for participation in available public health programs
  • Schedule, provide, and document basic and secondary/high risk nutrition education
  • Make referrals to programs such as Medicaid, AFDC, and SNAP benefits
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the requirements for use of the title Dietitian/Nutritionist as authorized by Code of VA 54.1 – 2731. This includes having a comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of nutrition and dietetics, as well as strong communication, organizational, and planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Dietitian preferred
  • Prior public health experience and/or experience with WIC program preferred
