Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and bilingual Senior Language Library Specialist to join our team at Arapahoe Libraries. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patrons, particularly those who speak Spanish, and promoting the library's resources and services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reference and advisory services to patrons in English and Spanish, including assistance with library account inquiries and technology support.
  • Manage and maintain the library's Spanish language and immigrant resources collections, including coordinating displays and participating in inclusive displays meetings.
  • Collaborate with other departments and staff to promote library resources and services, particularly those related to language and immigrant communities.
  • Participate in the work of the internal translation team, completing and reviewing translations of library documents into Spanish.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including contributing to cross-functional initiatives and projects.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience providing library services to patrons, including reference and advisory services.
  • Advanced oral and written proficiency in Spanish language, with the ability to pass an oral and written language assessment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, cultural humility, compassion, and professionalism in working with patrons and colleagues of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to de-escalate situations with confidence and demonstrate adaptability, enthusiasm, and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Familiarity with Adobe software and experience with translation or interpretation services.
  • Experience with facilitating and/or planning programming and outreach to linguistically diverse audiences.
