Job Overview
A key role for a Territory Business Development Lead at Sequel Med Tech involves partnering with Clinical Diabetes Specialists to drive the successful launch of new insulin pumps and future products. The territory covers all of Manhattan, and the primary goal is to promote the adoption of Sequel Med Tech's products and services. In partnership with the Clinical Diabetes Specialist, you will develop territory strategies and initiatives to meet or exceed territory goals.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Develop effective territory planning and strategies in collaboration with the Clinical Diabetes Specialist to achieve outstanding results.
- Foster strong relationships with customers, including physicians, advanced practitioners, certified diabetes care specialists, and key diabetes institutions. Influence these healthcare providers to prescribe Sequel Med Tech's products for people with diabetes.
- Drive continued adoption and growth of Sequel Med Tech's products by ensuring a seamless product experience for both healthcare providers and users.
- Demonstrate exceptional expertise in discussing and showcasing Sequel Med Tech's products, as well as a deep understanding of diabetes and therapeutic options for diabetes care.
- Collaborate closely with customer care and sales support teams to optimize user experiences.
- Effectively communicate healthcare provider feedback cross-functionally to solve problems and enhance product development.
- Represent Sequel Med Tech's products at industry conventions and educational forums to increase awareness and recognition.
- Maintain accurate records of leads and opportunities within the customer relations database and submit product training documentation as required.
- Establish a high profile with state and local patient advocacy groups and professional diabetes organizations, such as local chapters of ADA (American Diabetes Association), ADCES (Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists), and Breakthrough T1D (formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
Senior Territory Business Development Lead Role
The Senior Territory Business Development Lead will have additional responsibilities, including:
- Assisting with field sales training
- Mentoring junior staff members
- Participating on internal advisory boards with cross-functional departments
- As needed, leading weekly team calls, regional, and/or area calls, and meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years of sales experience with a demonstrated history of success
- Valid driver's license
- For the Senior Territory Business Development Lead role: 4+ years of sales experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industries with a proven track record of success
- Experience in diabetes and selling automated insulin devices is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong strategic problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated relationships with Endocrinologists are highly desirable, as is experience promoting diabetes devices and knowledge of diabetes therapeutics
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and foster team collaboration
- Strong data analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to execute sales and marketing plans and manage territory budgets
- Candidate must reside within the assigned geography
- Ability to commute and spend extended periods driving each day, which may include overnight travel; most territory travel will be by car
- Ability to carry and transport professional samples and literature
Additional Requirements for Senior Territory Business Development Lead
- A proven history of meeting or exceeding sales goals
- Recognition for outstanding contributions in sales (e.g., President's Club, Rookie of the Year, Circle of Excellence)
- Served in developmental and leadership roles such as field sales trainer, mentor to new hires, field advisory board/marketing input committee programs
- Experience representing the organization at industry conferences/conventions (i.e., ADA, ADCES)
- Demonstrated career progression/promotions into roles with increased responsibility
Compensation and Benefits
Sequel Med Tech offers a comprehensive benefits package, PTO, a car allowance, and gas reimbursement, as well as significant opportunities for career growth and advancement. The total base salary and target incentive compensation for this position is $185,000 - $215,000 annually, based on the achievement of goals. Base pay varies based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
