Outpatient Surgery Coder

University of Washington is seeking a skilled Outpatient Surgery Coder to join our team. As a key member of our Enterprise Records and Health Information department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our medical records.
Key Responsibilities
- Review electronic and other documentation to identify billable ambulatory surgery procedures and services requiring facility fee coding.
- Resolve coding edits related to procedures and services charged during the ambulatory surgery visit.
- Consult with physicians and clinical department representatives to verify services were rendered and documented.
- Maintain three-day coding turnaround times for ambulatory surgery accounts.
- Identify and escalate impacts to timely coding and charge capture.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and three years of coding experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent.
