Job Summary

  • The MDS Nurse -- RN is responsible for managing the overall process and tracking of Medicare/Medicaid case-mix documents to ensure accurate reimbursement for services provided within the nursing center.
  • Concurrent MDS review ensures that appropriate RUGs categories are achieved through the capture of clinical information, identifying opportunities to enhance reimbursement.
  • The nurse communicates case-mix data required for billing to the Business Office, including RUGs categories, modifiers, state case-mix scores, etc.
  • Serving as the nursing center resource for MDS/RUGs and state case-mix systems, the nurse provides staff education and instruction on MDS terminology and format.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree from an accredited School of Nursing with current RN licensure in the state where employment occurs is required.
  • One year of long-term care clinical nursing experience is necessary.
  • Experience with Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, MDS completion, clinical resource utilization, and/or case management is highly desirable.

Compensation
