Our team is seeking an Aquatic Safety Professional to join us at the Greater Somerset County YMCA. Located in vibrant Somerset County, New Jersey, we are a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

About the Role

We offer a competitive salary of $12-$15 per hour based on experience.

This role supports the work of our Y, creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
  • Address member concerns, direct members to program areas or lane needs, and support the overall Aquatic team.
  • Assist with swim lessons and deck supervision as needed by department operations.
  • Respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen, as well as a YMCA or ARC Lifeguard certification. They must also demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards and be able to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
