Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our physicians with testing, examinations, education, and treatment of patients. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
- Take and enter into medical records patients' vital signs, alerting the physician or nurse of any abnormalities.
- Perform testing and/or sample collection, including blood draws, electrocardiograms, injections, cultures, biopsies, and urinalyses, ensuring all collected samples are properly labeled and transported in a timely fashion.
- Assist physicians with medical procedures, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Follow-up/track receipt of results from tests and procedures ordered by the physician, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to established procedures for cleaning equipment and examination rooms.
- Retrieve and deliver paperwork or supplies, distributing forms and documents to other departments as needed.
- Maintain various logs, including maintenance, inventory, and biopsy records.
- Perform clerical duties, such as photocopying, data entry, faxing, emailing, ordering supplies, establishing and following up on appointment scheduling, and maintaining and retrieving patient records.
- Perform reception duties, including answering telephones and taking and relaying messages.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (level I preferred, level II required)
- CPR Certification
- 3-5 years' experience in ambulatory care preferred
- Patient care skills
- Ability to operate accurately a variety of medical equipment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good analytical and judgment skills
- Ability to use computer software programs and systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, personnel, and/or financial data
40-hour work week, hours and days to be determined by the business needs of the department. Additional hours may be required.
