Salary

The salary range for this position is $98,226 to $119,852, based on experience and qualifications, with annual increases in October. The package includes competitive benefits, fostering a healthy work-life balance and career growth.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Research Director to join our Climate Program, driving investigative research projects that inform advocacy campaigns and push for equitable clean energy solutions.

This role involves:

  • Developing strategic research agendas, collaborating with colleagues to investigate policy issues and market trends;
  • Designing and producing written materials, such as reports, editorials, and social media content;
  • Articulating findings through media interviews and presentations to diverse audiences;
  • Maintaining expertise on relevant policy debates and proposals;
  • BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ACADEMIC, GOVERNMENT AND OTHER RESEARCHERS;
  • Edit written materials by others within the Climate Program; plan and help execute strategic communications efforts;
  • Cultivating exclusive coverage in top-tier media outlets;
  • Collaborating with coalitions engaged in climate advocacy;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree and at least 15 years of experience as a researcher or reporter;
  • Outstanding analytical thinking, oral and written communication skills;
  • Familiarity with computer-assisted reporting techniques, database development and management, and relevant markets and research tools;
  • Knowledge of public records, particularly regarding campaign finance and lobbying;
  • A strong sense of how to use research to influence public policy debates and advance public interest advocacy campaigns;
  • High energy, enthusiasm, persistence, and attention to detail;
  • An ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities under pressure;
  • A creative and collaborative spirit;
  • A strong commitment to investigating and reporting on corporate actors causing environmental harm.
