We are seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering quality patient care and supporting the healthcare team.

Job Description:

In this role, you will provide a variety of patient care activities supporting the needs of the Care Coach Connect Program. This includes organizing the clinical environment, providing support in patient care situations, and assisting physicians and nursing personnel with various procedures. You will also be responsible for identifying patient needs or problems, communicating data to the provider or other members of the clinical team, and delivering quality customer service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties within the scope of a Certified Medical Assistant, including provider-supervised procedures, injections, diagnostic testing, phlebotomy, and more.
  • Coordinate healthcare screening results as directed by providers, company standards, and policies.
  • Travel with providers to patient homes, mobile units, and other locations within the NTX Market and surrounding areas to support the delivery of services in the community setting.
  • Perform and complete all quality program health screenings per required metrics.
  • Process appropriate documents in an organized and accurate manner and copy all physicians on patient results and quality forms submitted.
  • Record patient care documentation in medical records accurately and in a timely manner according to company policy.
  • Presents abnormal results to the provider promptly to ensure there is not an emergent condition that needs immediate attention.
  • Post-visit preparation of clinical team charts for faxing, filing, and forwarding to PCP offices.
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of compiling results and entering chart noted prior to visit, including pulling hospital records, lab results, specialty notes, and more.
  • Ensures follow-up appointment dispositions are documented in CDSS and completed in eCW.
  • Reviews and ensures post-visit recommendations from providers are completed, such as prescriptions and referrals.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality of all materials handled within the department as well as proper release of patient information at all times.
  • Maintains certifications (MA and CPR) and quality control standards.
  • Promotes a positive work environment.
  • May assist other members of their team with coordination of work.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or registration required or must obtain designation within 90 days of employment hire date.
  • Current CPR certification or must obtain certification within 30 days of employment hire date.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations required and assume a leadership role until higher-level clinician can arrive on the scene.
  • Ability to travel frequently within assigned market.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Have reliable transportation for daily travel to various clinics as assigned.
