About the Job:

We're seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team in Kirkland, WA. As a DSP, you'll play a vital role in supporting adults with developmental disabilities in their daily lives.

Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with care of dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs, as well as redirecting behaviors with various activities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to program participants that meets their needs, providing opportunities for community integration, a nurturing, safe, and healthful living environment.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.
  • Ensure daily needs of participants are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication.
  • Assist participants in accessing the community for outings of their choice, arranging transportation as needed.
  • Treat participants with dignity and consideration, promoting and safeguarding their ability to make decisions and exercise their rights.
  • Interact with participants, provide informal counseling, and problem-solve with them.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and participate in the development and implementation of Individual Instruction and Support Plans (IISPs) for each participant.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old or older.
  • Personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, especially those with challenging behaviors, is strongly preferred.
  • Valid in-state driver's license and current car insurance required.
