Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Trailer Technician 3 to join our team at TEC Equipment. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing semi-trailers. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of practical experience working on trailers and possess a strong understanding of troubleshooting using diagnostic software.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicle to proper operating condition
  • Perform advanced repairs and replace major components such as radiators, valve adjustments, and turbos
  • Rebuild or repair major components such as transmissions, gear plates, and block reconditioning
  • Troubleshoot and perform complex wiring repairs and diagnose and repair any electronic issues
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance services, identifying worn and damaged parts and repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed
  • Maintain safe and organized work area
  • Ability to be on task to meet shop quality and efficiency standards
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
  • Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations
  • Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job
  • Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications
  • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of practical experience working on trailers
  • Must have own hand tools
  • High expertise in troubleshooting using diagnostic software
  • Proficient computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job (job requires frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner
  • Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements. CDL license preferred but not required
