Electrical Power Systems Hardware Engineer

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Electrical Power Systems Hardware Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the electrical power systems for our spacecraft. Your expertise will help us create safe, reliable, and efficient power systems that enable our mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead high and low voltage, avionic designs that interact with electrical power consumers.
  • Own the design, analysis, prototyping, and testing of electrical power systems, from concept to production.
  • Support power regulation and distribution architecture trade studies, analyses, and performance characterization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets safety, reliability, and performance requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems.
  • Expertise in designing high voltage switching, power regulation, and other advanced electronic commercial or aerospace products.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Familiarity with common communication methods, such as RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, or PCIe.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Basic or better knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and how to apply this to designs targeting space applications.
  • Demonstrated experience designing high reliability safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254 and similar standards.
