Diagnostic Technologist Role

UPMC is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Technologist to join the Imaging Team. This full-time position involves working variable shifts, every other weekend, and holidays, with no on-call or travel required.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

We are currently offering sign-on bonuses for Diagnostic Technologist positions, with amounts dependent on years of experience. Additionally, UPMC offers a new Monthly Loan Repayment program for eligible graduates, providing $9,000 in loan repayment over three years.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify patients properly using two identifiers and apply universal protocol when performing procedures.

Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results.

Document patient history in electronic records as required.

Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy.

Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and charges are adequately entered.

Perform diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing established protocols/procedures without requiring constant supervision.

Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, manipulation, and documentation of image data and complete procedures according to protocol.

Demonstrate strong ability to interact with patients and co-workers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.

Perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment to adjust protocols and show initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic radiography purposes.

Communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help alleviate their fears and solicit their cooperation.

Requirements:

Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from an ARRT-approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.

ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist, with registry within 12 months of hire date.

CPR or BLS required based on AHA standards, with skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
