Job Summary

The Technical Partner plays a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN. This position requires a strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Deliver direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of care.
  2. Perform and/or assist with patient care needs as directed and assists patient with activities of daily living.
  3. Respond to call lights, inquiries, and requests from patients and families in a timely manner.
  4. Collect, document, and report ongoing patient care data as directed.
  5. Measure and/or document intake and output, including drainage, and obtains daily weights when indicated.
  6. Obtain individual patient care equipment as directed.
  7. Transport patients as directed.
Responsibilities

  • Apply heating pads
  • Set up suction equipment
  • Utilize E cylinders
  • Apply antiembolic hose
  • Aseptic techniques
  • Distribute and maintain sufficient supply of linens
  • Apply Sequential Compression Devices
  • Perform blood glucose testing
  • Perform ostomy care
  • Simple dressing changes
  • Apply telemetry leads
  • Bladder scanning
  • Preventative skin care
Apply pulse oximetryUrinary catheter care, including foley catheter insertion and removal, and straight catheterizationsTransport blood and blood products from blood bankPerform EKGsOral pharyngeal suctioningPlace patient in CPM machinePrepare and maintain isolation boxes and suppliesDeclutter patient rooms and storage areasDeliver specimens to labCrutch measurement and teachingMaintenance of specialty cartsSupply inventory and special order suppliesStock warmers with blankets, saline, and waterRequirements
  1. High School Diploma, GED, or higher level of education.
  2. Completion of a Nurse Aide or comparable program (such as EMT, Medical Assistant, nursing student with at least one semester of clinical, or EH Technical Partner Training Program).
  3. Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to follow directions from other team members; works independently assigned duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Nurse Aide certification.
  2. Patient care experience.
  3. Computer skills, Phlebotomy, EKG experience.
  4. Current Nursing Student (with clinical experience).
License, Certification & Clearances
  1. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required.
  2. A Technical Partner refresher training class may be required if an employee has not worked in an acute care setting and/or long-term care facility for past three (3) – five (5) years.
  3. Act 33 with renewal.
  4. Act 34 with renewal.
  5. Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
