Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Delivery Specialist to manage our university's mail and package delivery system. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for retrieving, sorting, and delivering mail and packages to the correct departments and recipients.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is proactive, service-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. If you possess excellent time management and organizational skills, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Retrieve, sort, and categorize mail and packages by department or recipient
  • Deliver mail and packages to the correct departments or recipients within a specified area or campus
  • Log deliveries and pickups using a handheld device and computer
  • Assist customers with mail services, helping them track and locate packages
  • Forward misdirected mail and packages to the correct recipients
  • Operate delivery vehicles, if required, to transport mail and packages
  • Maintain delivery equipment, such as carts and vehicles, in good working condition
  • Safeguard mail and packages to prevent loss, theft, or damage
  • Adhere to university policies and procedures related to mail handling, delivery, and customer service
Requirements
  • Valid Texas Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) with no more than three moving violations within the past 36 months and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past three years
  • Ability to lift boxes up to 40 lb.
  • Ability to traverse campus in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Great customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers
Work Environment

This is an on-site position, requiring all duties to be performed in-person at the Police Annex Building, Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Work arrangements may be subject to change per Rice policy 440.
