Job Summary

The START Center for Cancer Research is seeking an experienced Clinical Trials Pharmacist to join our team in San Antonio. As a key member of our clinical trials team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective administration of investigational drugs to patients participating in clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify medication orders and ensure accurate dosages, patient eligibility, and no serious drug interactions.
  • Oversee medication preparation and dispensing, including supervising pharmacy technicians and ensuring compliance with the double-check verification process.
  • Provide patient counseling on medications and supportive care, and deliver drug information to the healthcare team.
  • Facilitate clear, professional communication within the department and with external partners.
  • Oversee drug inventories, including tracking, ordering, and documentation for investigational and conventional medications.
  • Review new protocols and maintain investigational documentation and accurate medication records in the EMR.
  • Provide limited on-call support for monitoring the IDS drug storage temperature system.
  • Maintain current state pharmacist licensure and complete required continuing education.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Current State of Texas Pharmacy license. Sterile compounding certification required. Chemotherapy or hazardous compounding certification preferred. Specialty residency in oncology and/or current BPS Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) preferred.
  • Two years hospital/clinic pharmacy experience. Prior experience in clinical trials and management of investigational drugs preferred.
