Oncology Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse at Kaiser Permanente, you will have the opportunity to practice professional nursing by performing both independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in accordance with accepted practice standards. Your responsibilities will include initiating and performing nursing care through health promotion, supportive or restorative care, disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of human disease.
Your primary focus will be on developing and sustaining productive relationships with patients and their families, actively seeking information to understand their circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs. You will build rapport and cooperative relationships with patients, considering how your actions or plans will affect them, and responding quickly to meet their needs and resolve problems.
Essential Responsibilities:
- You will ensure patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to medications, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, and consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time-outs.
- You will evaluate health status through the collection and assessment of health data, collecting subjective and objective data, analyzing reports and records, and using data to identify healthcare problems and create plans.
- You will prioritize patients' needs, triage patients either in person or via telephone, and implement proper courses of action in accordance with established protocols or guidelines.
- You will conduct telephone calls-back to patients requiring follow-up care, evaluate emergency situations, initiate appropriate nursing interventions, provide health teaching and health counseling to patients and/or their families, and execute delegated medical functions.
- You will administer intravenous therapy and other medications, provide therapy and treatment that is supportive and restorative to life and well-being, refer patients who need further treatment, evaluation, or assistance to medical or community agencies, review and monitor therapy and treatment patient plans, and initiate appropriate consultations and/or actions.
- You will facilitate the coordination and integration of care between healthcare services, manage populations of patients to ensure appropriate utilization of healthcare resources, lead healthcare teams by influence and role modeling integrated effective nursing practice, service, innovation, and providing outstanding support for physician practices.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a registered nurse with a minimum of one year of experience as an RN, preferably in oncology within the previous five years. You must have a graduate degree from a board-approved RN program and completed a minimum of 750 clock hours of faculty-planned clinical experience and guided learning activities.
Salary: The estimated salary for this position is around $80,000-$120,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
