Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Budget and Business Technician to join our team at the University of Southern California. As a key member of our Finance and Accounting team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the fiscal integrity of our finances and providing exceptional customer service to our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the set-up, maintenance, and monitoring of department accounts, including assigning account numbers for routine business transactions.
  • Prepare, process, and/or review paperwork, including travel advances and reimbursements for faculty and staff.
  • Input financial data to ledgers or departmental accounting systems and reconcile internal records to the University's financial system.
  • Monitor blanket requisition charges and itemize expenses, as well as reconcile vendor statements and pay invoices.
  • Interact with University financial offices to exchange information and resolve problems.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports for internal and/or external use.
  • Perform daily credit card and cash reconciliations, as well as support the USC Transportation finance manager with month-end close processes.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of directly related office financial experience, including knowledge of accounts payable, income and expense accounting, and reconcilement.
  • Demonstrated communication and customer service skills, as well as knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and University laws and policies.
  • Mathematical skills and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • College coursework in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • 2 years of directly related work experience.
