Social Caseworker Community Based Intake Caseworker

Arapahoe County is seeking a skilled Social Caseworker Community Based Intake Caseworker to join our team. As a key member of our social services department, you will be responsible for conducting investigations of alleged child abuse and neglect, determining the need for services, and developing case plans to ensure the well-being of children and families.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough investigations of alleged child abuse and neglect, gathering and consolidating background information to present as documentation for court hearings and progress reports.
- Determine the need for services and develop case plans to ensure the well-being of children and families, monitoring progress and modifying plans as needed.
- Make collateral contacts with community resources, such as law enforcement and medical personnel, to obtain additional information, coordinate services, or secure their assistance.
- Participate in staffing with school, mental health facilities, child protection review teams, and other professionals involved with the family members.
- Attend court hearings, confer with lawyers, children, parents, witnesses, and significant others in references to their respective roles.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in a human behavior science field and two years of professional child welfare casework experience, or a Master of Social Work or a human behavioral science field and one year of professional child welfare experience.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and high-volume work environment, handle high stress and complex situations, and maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
- Excellent organizational skills, strong ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, and multitask, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively present information, write reports and business correspondence, and respond to court, managers, customers, other agencies, co-workers, and the general public via fax, telephone, and email.
The work environment is generally confined to a standard office environment, with occasional lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing up to 20 lbs, and occasional use of cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 20 lbs.
The position requires a valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment, and requires fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check, as well as clearance to receive a US Government Civilian Access pass.
The position is deemed essential and intake casework staff must be available for winter storm and other emergency events, and may be asked to be available to work on-call on a rotational basis including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Maintain Child Welfare Certification through 40 or more hours of yearly training.
