Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical Assistant, or Clinical Assistant to join our team in Columbus, OH. This role plays a vital part in patient care, working closely with our providers to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the clinical care team to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Foster open communication between the care team, patients, and caregivers to optimize outcomes.
  • Assist in addressing gaps in care, including chart preparation.
  • Promote improved clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction, as well as efficient resource utilization.
  • Act as a patient advocate to ensure the highest quality of care.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up medical equipment and perform related tests as needed.
  • Administer injections and perform routine specimen collection and point-of-care tests.
  • Responsible for vaccine administration as directed.
  • Interview patients regarding medical concerns and obtain medical history.
  • Measure and record vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, and weight in patients' electronic health records.
  • Responsible for blood draws and specimen processing.
  • Assist in performing routine medical procedures as requested.
  • Prepare patients and treatment rooms for exams.
  • Review physician orders and lab requests, and follow up as needed.
  • Call in prescriptions and order refills as approved and directed.
  • Communicate test results to patients as directed.
  • Assist in patient education using related educational tools, periodicals, flyers, and handouts.
  • Assist with applicable forms and patient paperwork, including processing referrals, prior authorizations, and pre-certifications.
  • Respond to patient phone calls as appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Attend meetings and participate in classroom activities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Preferred: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
  • Preferred: MA certification.
  • Preferred: State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Phlebotomist, or equivalent clinical background/training.

  • Knowledge in vaccine administration, storage, handling, and documentation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
  • Knowledge of using medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications, as directed.
  • Skill in taking vital signs.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Customer service skills; social perceptiveness and service-oriented.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
