About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing/Public Relations Professional to join our team at the University of Georgia's Center for Food Safety. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting the accomplishments of our researchers and leading public relations with private and public sector stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective public relations strategies to promote the Center's research and achievements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media representatives, government officials, and industry stakeholders
  • Collaborate with researchers to identify and develop stories about their work for news releases and social media
  • Proactively investigate emerging food safety issues and develop content to showcase the Center's work
  • Develop and maintain the Center's social media presence and create engaging content
  • Support the Center's marketing efforts and coordinate with other academic units and the college
  • Draft and produce the Center's newsletter for circulation among stakeholders
  • Design and develop the Center's website and update stories and news feeds as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as English, Communication, Journalism, or Regulatory Science
  • Experience in public relations, marketing, or a related field
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of web content management and website design
