Job OverviewTEEMA Group is seeking a skilled Braille Instructor to support visually impaired students in achieving their academic, social, and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement instructional programs designed by certificated staff.
- Instruct students in Braille reading and writing, using adaptive technology aids and equipment.
- Compile and review student assignments and progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Assist students with daily living skills, social skills, and travel skills, as needed.
- Adapt classroom materials to meet the needs of visually impaired students, including enlarging materials and preparing tactile materials.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, maintaining communication with school and program staff.
- Assist with testing students, recording scores, and maintaining related files.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of methods for working with visually impaired students.
- Competency in Braille instruction.
- Ability to work independently and handle confidential matters.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Dependable with good attendance and punctuality.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience with visually impaired or multi-disabled children.
- Relevant education, experience, and training.
Licensing and Certification:
- Completion of 10 hours of continuing education in Braille competency or an accepted Braille competency test.
- Valid Washington State driver's license.
