Speech-Language Pathologist Job Description
Elderwood is seeking a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech-Language Pathologist at Elderwood, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing speech-language therapy services.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations to identify communication problems and develop personalized therapy plans.
- Coordinate audiometric screenings and make referrals for further audiology evaluations or treatments as needed.
- Initiate and maintain speech-language therapy plans of care, ensuring effective communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide compassionate and respectful care to residents, upholding their rights and dignity.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of resident evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Collaborate with other staff members to integrate speech-language treatment programs with other disciplines and ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in resident care planning and family/resident care plan review meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
- Submit statistical reports to the Business Office staff for Medicare billing payments and complete assessment forms as requested.
- Attend staff meetings and required or preferred in-service training to stay up-to-date on best practices and company policies.
Qualifications:
- M.A. or M.S. Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an approved school.
- State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Current, valid CPR/BLS certification.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
