Job Summary
As a Radiology Technologist at Atrium Health, you'll perform radiographic examinations with minimal supervision under the direction of a Radiologist. Your daily activities will include performing examinations and associated clerical duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Document patient history related to specific procedures on requisitions submitted by physicians.
- Verify patient identification through verbal confirmation and validation of proof of identity.
- Prepare and administer contrast media as required.
- Consult with radiologists and other physicians as necessary.
- Select and operate equipment according to individual procedure demands and demonstrate correct anatomic positioning skills.
- Maintain records as required by departmental standards.
Physical Requirements
This role requires strenuous physical effort while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers. You'll handle equipment and monitoring supplies, and must have good oral and written communication skills to interact with patients and hospital staff. You may be required to frequently stretch, bend, twist, squat, or kneel in operating radiographic equipment.
You'll need to use your hands for power gripping, speed work, and precision during manipulation of radiographic equipment and when interacting with injured and diseased patients. Vision and hearing for distances of up to 10 feet are necessary. You may be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the workday, such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, and being near moving equipment. You'll need to adapt to changes in temperature and humidity.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
This role requires successful completion of a formal Radiology Tech Program in an AMA-approved facility, ARRT registration, and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA. If you're a new graduate, you must be registry-eligible with registry completion within 1 year of hire date.
