Job Overview

PAC VENTURES seeks a compassionate Hospice Spiritual Care Specialist to join our team.

About the Role:

This is a per diem position, with flexible scheduling based on the needs of PAC VENTURES and the availability of the specialist.

The successful candidate will provide spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff within the hospice organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Spiritual Assessment and Support:

Conduct thorough spiritual assessments of patients and families to identify their beliefs, values, and spiritual needs.

Provide ongoing support and tailored pastoral care in accordance with individual preferences and traditions.

Crisis Intervention and Counseling:

Offer compassionate listening, emotional support, and counseling during times of crisis, grief, and loss.

Facilitate discussions about existential concerns, meaning-making, and end-of-life issues.

Sacramental Ministry:

Administer sacraments, rituals, prayers, and blessings according to religious traditions and patient/family preferences.

Coordinate pastoral visits from clergy or spiritual leaders of other faith traditions as requested.

Advance Care Planning:

Assist patients and families in exploring their spiritual values and beliefs related to advance care planning.

Provide guidance and support in completing advance directives and making ethical decisions aligned with spiritual principles.

Bereavement Support:

Provide bereavement support to family members and caregivers before and after the death of a loved one.

Facilitate grief support groups, memorial services, and other rituals to honor and remember those who have passed away.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to provide holistic care and support.

Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and care planning sessions to address spiritual and emotional needs.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of chaplaincy interventions, spiritual assessments, and interactions.

Complete required documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other databases.

Qualifications:

We are seeking an ordained or endorsed chaplain with a Master's degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Achievement of board certification or eligibility for certification as a chaplain by a professional organization is preferred.

Clinical pastoral education (CPE) training or equivalent experience in providing spiritual care in healthcare or hospice settings is also desired.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

A compassionate bedside manner and empathetic listening skills are essential for success in this role.

Estimated Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year.
