Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner

CommonSpirit Health is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) to join our team in a critical care setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medicine and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
The APC will provide direct patient care in conjunction with a provider team, including pulmonary critical-care physicians and other APCs. The schedule will be 7-on/7-off with rotating days/nights.
The successful candidate will have prior experience in critical care, with a preference for those with experience in central line placements and endotracheal intubation. Additional training will be provided as needed.
The APC will be responsible for obtaining and recording medical history, performing physical examinations, ordering and conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and formulating diagnoses. They will also be responsible for identifying and prescribing appropriate pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic interventions, as well as educating and counseling patients and families.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to community-based care and be able to provide care that achieves optimal individual patient outcomes and meets performance metrics.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record medical history
- Perform physical examinations, including rectal and pelvic exams as appropriate
- Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including laboratory tests, radiographic tests, and EKGs
- Formulate diagnoses
- Identify and prescribe appropriate pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic interventions, as allowed by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners, Texas Board of Medicine, Prescriptive Authority/Collaborative Practice Agreement, and DEA regulations
- Educate and counsel patients and families according to diagnosis
- Make appropriate referrals to patients and families
Qualifications
- Approved FNP or PA program
- Texas licensed
- National Board Certification
- Active BLS and ACLS
Pay Range
$77.40/hour
