Overview

Spirit AeroSystems is a leading manufacturer of aerostructures for commercial and defense customers. As an Equipment Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting all programs within the Wichita, KS Division, driving process improvement and efficiency, and collaborating with experts in production, quality, design, and supply chain roles.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate program and project requirements, develop complex equipment and tooling concepts, and design solutions for the Production System.
  • Participate in product design reviews, research the application of robotics, automation, and new technology to support the build plan, and establish technical requirements for producibility.
  • Develop statements of work with validated specifications, requirements, and functions, and prepare design or fabrication off-load packages.
  • Validate contractual performance milestones, maintain configuration control, conduct reviews, prepare plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares, and coordinate training for Production and Maintenance personnel.
  • Provide technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with disposition of equipment and tooling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an ABET-accredited course of study in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, Chemical) with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques, experience working in a production environment, AutoCAD or equivalent design experience, and experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems.
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with both the engineering workforce and the mechanics on the factory floor, and possess project management knowledge and strong communication skills.
