Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Cashier to join our team at SpartanNash. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, operating cash registers, and handling financial transactions with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate cash registers and electronic scanners to process customer transactions, handle cash, checks, credit cards, and other forms of payment.
  • Weigh and bag customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
  • Understand and operate check-stand equipment, including registers, scanners, scales, and belts.
  • Responsible for front-end duties, such as merchandising check-stands and maintaining a clean and well-stocked department.
  • Communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers and model high standards of service to achieve a customer-oriented store.
  • Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and customer service.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of prior retail or related experience preferred.
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
  • Good customer service and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role include standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and moving up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The associate is also required to bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently. The work environment is typically a retail store setting with varied temperatures and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
