Overview

Dene rHealth, a leading integrated healthcare system, is seeking a skilled Charge Nurse to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary ranging from $37.40 to $61.07 per hour, depending on experience. In addition to a comprehensive compensation package, Denver Health offers outstanding benefits, including up to 27 paid days off per year, immediate retirement plan employer contribution up to 9.5%, and generous medical plans.

Job Summary

This Charge Nurse position requires minimal direction, supervising nursing and support staff in an inpatient unit, specialty clinic, or treatment programs in various patient care settings. The ideal candidate will adhere to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professional nursing and performance, applying critical thinking and evidence-based policies to promote excellence in patient safety and quality outcomes.

Essential Functions
  • Operations Management: Oversee department/unit for assigned shift employing clinical and managerial skills to care for patients while also providing guidance and leadership to other nurses who are working with patients, including preparing daily staffing assignments, mentoring staff, evaluating performance, facilitating patient flow, admissions, and discharges.
  • Patient Assessment: Assess the needs of individuals, families, and/or communities to identify potential health or safety problems, instruct individuals and families on health education and disease prevention, and aftercare.
  • Treatment and Evaluation: Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity, develop and modify patient care plans as indicated by patient's responses and conditions, prepare patients for and assist with examinations and treatments.
  • Medication Administration, Documentation, and Reassessment: Administer medications, document patient information, and reassess symptoms and changes in patient's condition and vital signs.
Education and Work Experience

We require an Associate's Degree in Nursing and 1-3 years of professional nursing experience in a patient care setting. You must also hold a current RN license in the state of Colorado.

  • Strong understanding and display of customer service principles as it applies to patients, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team matrix environment and communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of assessment findings as they relate to the disease process and continuum of care.
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHRs) and basic office suite skills.
