Job Summary

Your primary goal will be to ensure the proper operation of the pharmacy, including ensuring compliance with regulations, company policies, and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful patient experience.
  • Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Lead efforts on enhancing patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through Walgreens.
  • Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical provider as needed.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards.
  • Establish procedures that promote the efficient workflow of the pharmacy, including overseeing staff scheduling, assigning roles, coordinating activities, and soliciting team member suggestions.
  • Collaborate with Store Manager to define and develop new strategic business opportunities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point of sale registers.
  • Ensure the accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections.
  • Follow up with medical providers' offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies.
  • Perform clinical and wellness services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services.
  • Manage the maintenance, housekeeping, and improvement of the pharmacy department, including repairs, cleaning, new equipment, and changes to the layout.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit all records, reports, and other documentation as required by state and federal laws.
  • Collaborate with Store Manager on pharmacy staff hiring and carry out discipline and termination as necessary.
  • Partner with Store Manager to establish expectations and goals while promoting teamwork.
  • Monitor and recognize pharmacy employee progress and implement rewards programs while fostering a shared vision.
  • Optimize patient experience through focused coaching and performance behaviors.
  • Manage pharmacy staff performance by conducting formal performance reviews and overseeing the training of pharmacy employees.
  • Identify and develop high-potential team members and collaborate with Store Manager to proactively manage career progression.
  • Address employee relations concerns and maintain morale by checking on employee welfare, addressing complaints, conflicts, and ensuring positive employee management relationships.
  • Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by federal and state regulations to provide such clinical services.
  • Maintain and enhance current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications.
  • Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training, including learning modules, as required by the Company.
  • Seek professional development by monitoring one's performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and leveraging healthcare supervisor and store manager as mentor and coach.
  • Support the Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff.
  • Responsible for analyzing performance data, including pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory.
  • Manage pharmacy asset protection activities and oversee inventory management.
  • Identify pharmacy performance trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
  • Reach out to the community to promote the pharmacy business and further enhance growth opportunities.
  • Support Store Manager in expanding health and wellness awareness in the community.
