Emerson Hospital is seeking a skilled Medical Lab Technician to join our team in Concord, MA.
Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Core Lab Supervisor and technical guidance of an experienced Medical Technologist, the Medical Lab Technician will perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests on environmental, blood, and body fluid specimens as prescribed by physicians and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory tests on environmental, blood, and body fluid specimens
- Work under the supervision of the Core Lab Supervisor and technical guidance of an experienced Medical Technologist
- Develop and maintain knowledge of laboratory methods and analytical principles in Hematology
- Operate automated and manual laboratory equipment
- Ensure quality control principles are maintained
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, outside agencies, vendors, and fellow staff members
- Associate degree in Hematology, Biology, Basic Sciences, or Medical Laboratory Science
- Minimum one year of experience in all areas of the Laboratory or Hematology Department
- ASCP or NCA certification required, or ASCP or NCA eligible with certification achieved within 6 months of employment
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to maintain confidential information
