Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Equipment Specialist II to join our team at The University of Chicago Medicine. This is a full-time, rotating shift position in the Perioperative Department.

About the Role

This position involves setting up, operating, and troubleshooting anesthesia machines, monitors, and ancillary devices. You will work closely with the anesthesia provider to transport patients, position them, and insert intravenous/invasive lines, acquire medications, and perform routine or difficult intubations and extubations.

You will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and fabricating anesthesia equipment in various operating rooms, labor and delivery suites, and other clinical settings. Additionally, you will order, acquire, and distribute anesthesia supplies, organize support spaces, restock operating rooms and work areas, and provide supply and set-up assistance for practitioners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aseptic techniques and be able to train other Anesthesia Technicians on these procedures. You may also perform Point of Care Testing as needed.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician or relevant operating room experience
  • AHA BLS certification upon hire or within the first month of hire

This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area. We offer a competitive salary range of $50,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience. The estimated salary for this role is around $58,750 per year.
