Job Summary

The Humanities Department at Prince George's Community College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Humanities Assistant. This position demands a strong ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the setup, installation, and operation of departmental activities and special events.
  • Provide support to the Humanities Departmental activities and special events, including setup, installation, and operation.
  • Assist with the safe entrance and exit of student talent, performers, and individuals from Humanities academic teaching spaces.
  • Represent the College in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
  • Perform related work as required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months to one year of employment as a Humanities assistant or other equivalent experience at the Center for Performing Arts of Prince George's Community College or other academic performance venues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, organize work, follow set priorities, thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment, and consistently meet deadlines.
Working Conditions

The incumbent will work in a variety of settings, including academic teaching spaces, departmental offices, and event venues. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of productivity.

The incumbent will be required to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support departmental activities and special events.

The incumbent will be required to use a variety of equipment, including personal computers, calculators, copiers, and fax machines.

The incumbent will be required to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community visitors in person and on the phone.

The incumbent will be required to work as part of a team and demonstrate the ability to initiate and work independently.

The incumbent will be required to organize, plan, and supervise projects and programs.

The incumbent will be required to improvise and solve unique technical problems.

The incumbent will be required to ensure safe egress of all aisles and exits of the stage and theater spaces, maintaining a safe distance around objects for safety.

The incumbent will be required to execute technical theatre maintenance and improvement of equipment, stage, and theatre spaces; coordinate and assist in repairing equipment or when necessary make appropriate arrangements to have equipment repaired.

The incumbent will be required to perform related work as required.
