OTR Driver Apprentice Route Manager

At Frito Lay, we are committed to providing our drivers with the training and support they need to succeed in their roles. As an OTR Driver Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced drivers and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The starting salary for this position is $85,000 per year, with a target average of $130,000 per year and a weekly guarantee of $1,300. Additionally, new hires may be eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus.
Job Description
This is a physical job that requires the ability to safely operate a tractor/trailer, transport products to and from specified destinations, and load and unload trailers. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Authorized to work in the United States permanently
- Ability to work on weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push, pull, and handle products with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to sit for extended periods, up to five hours daily, with or without a reasonable accommodation
- CDL-A preferred but not required
- Hard worker with a strong commitment to safety

What to Expect
As an OTR Driver Apprentice, you can expect to:
- Safely operate a tractor/trailer and transport products to and from specified destinations
- Load and unload trailers, including manual and palletized loading/unloading
- Obtain the signature of the receipt, pick up returns, complete logs, and review invoices and/or manifests
- Use an electronic logging device, such as a tablet or onboard computer
- Have regular contact with customers, sales drivers, and dispatch
- Be responsible for pre- and post-trip truck inspections
- Work up to the legal limits allowed by the FMCSA, including overnight trips and weekend/holiday work
We run routes 24/7 and DOT hours vary slightly by location.
