Job Summary

A highly respected Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) is sought to lead the entire accounting function. This senior leadership role will ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards, including GAAP and life insurance statutory accounting, manage financial risks, and support strategic goals by providing accurate financial data and analyses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement accounting policies in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
  • Analyze complex business decisions and transactions for accounting and reporting implications.
  • Lead tax reporting and compliance efforts, including federal, state, premium, sales, and use tax, information reporting, and product tax.
  • Oversee finance services teams, including treasury operations, cash management, forecasting, bank administration, accounts payable, payroll, and travel expense reporting.
  • Prioritize finance systems road map development, partnering with IT leadership.
  • Drive annual enterprise expense planning processes.
  • Maintain close monitoring of financial performance against plans, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Foster teamwork through effective communication, develop actionable goals, and lead successful execution.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 15 years of life insurance industry accounting and financial experience, proficient in consolidating complex enterprise data.
  • 5+ years in executive leadership or senior management roles.
  • Expertise in U.S. insurance accounting, both GAAP and statutory, and LDTI.
  • Knowledge of Bermuda Monetary Authority (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; certified public accountant license and public accounting experience (preferred).
