Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Paraprofessional to join our team at Arizona Autism Charter Schools, Inc. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will provide essential assistance to our classroom teachers, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management strategies.
  • Collaborate with the classroom team to support academic instruction and behavior plans.
  • Execute lessons as directed by the teacher, including supporting independent work and special projects.
  • Assist with classroom planning and preparation of materials.
  • Support students in participating in classroom routines, transitions, and self-care tasks.
  • Implement behavior intervention techniques in alignment with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
  • Follow tier one behavioral supports and behavior plans as directed.
  • Obtain and maintain QBS certification.
  • Adhere to policies outlined in the AZACS Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
  • Work with special education students may involve lifting, feeding, and other services.
Requirements
  • Special education and/or behaviors experience: 1 year (preferred).
  • Enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative in dealing with students, faculty, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred.

Working Conditions

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
