Your Opportunity

We're seeking a seasoned Sr. Environmental Planning Specialist to join our Environmental Services Practice in the Eastern Sierra and western Nevada region. The ideal candidate will support business development and planning and permitting practice while working in Bishop, Zephyr Cove, Reno, or Nevada City locations.

As a key member of our team, you'll provide environmental and biological resource permitting expertise to local, regional, state, federal, private, and non-profit clients. Your duties will include:

  • Developing permit strategies to ensure environmental compliance and meet client objectives and schedules.
  • Preparing draft agency permit applications and coordinating resource reviews required for agency permits and notifications.
  • Collaborating with Stantec staff, subcontractors, and clients to conduct surveys and monitoring according to client guidance and safety requirements.
  • Leading research and compilation of data and information for project environmental compliance with technical specialists.
  • Preparing technical reports, plans, and permit applications as part of a team effort.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to train and oversee entry-level team members and contribute to business development efforts by building professional relationships, preparing proposal responses, and participating in outreach initiatives.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in environmental planning and permitting as a land use or environmental planner, biologist, environmental scientist, or similar.
  • Proven experience obtaining local, state, and/or federal environmental regulatory permits.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CEQA and NEPA compliance, including preparation of at least a CEQA Initial Study or a NEPA Environmental Assessment.
  • Authorship of technical sections of CEQA and NEPA documents.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000-$110,000 annually, depending on experience, along with flexible work arrangements, comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
