Phlebotomist Specialist

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $65,000 per year

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist to join our team at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in various settings, including hospitals and clinics.

• Data Entry and Specimen Handling
  • You will collect and process biological specimens with precision and accuracy, ensuring that all necessary data is entered into our Laboratory Information System.
  • You will also handle STAT samples expediently and perform special collections/procedures as directed and according to competency and policies/procedures.
• Patient Care and Communication
  • You will provide exceptional patient care while performing duties, independently handling patient care and technical issues as they arise within the scope of your job.
  • You will also promote a positive work environment and contribute to a dynamic, team-focused work unit that actively helps one another to achieve optimal department results.
• Collaboration and Teamwork
  • You will collaborate with all members of the patient care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner.
  • You will also serve as a preceptor to less experienced and/or new staff and students by utilizing your skills and knowledge to help train and educate others.
  Requirements
  • Education
    • You must have a High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.).
    • A course in phlebotomy/venipuncture is preferred.
  • Work Experience
    • You must have a minimum of 3 years of related experience required, which must include data entry and specimen handling.
    • Neonatal/pediatric phlebotomy experience is preferred.
