We are seeking a talented and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Prisma Health in the Progressive Intensive Care Unit.
This is an exceptional opportunity for new graduates or RNs with less than one year of experience to launch their nursing career through our Nurse Residency Program. The program combines foundational and specialty-specific clinical core curriculum, quality classes, simulation, one-on-one skills validation, hands-on application with clinical mentors, and professional development.
The successful candidate will have the responsibility of attending all quality and core curriculum classes, actively participating in professional development workshops and peer support groups, and successfully completing all clinical competencies and validation requirements of the Nurse Residency Program. They will work under the direct and indirect supervision of the Clinical Education Team while refining their nursing knowledge and skills.
Key accountabilities include assessment, planning care, implementing/managing care, evaluation, and leadership. The nurse will collect patient data, complete required forms, identify patient problems/needs, set priorities, interpret diagnostic results, and perform nursing assessments. They will also develop plans of care, make referrals to multidisciplinary support services, provide treatments and procedures, explain nursing procedures, provide discharge teaching, and evaluate patient care measures.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and teamwork skills, be knowledgeable about age-related characteristics and needs of patients, and understand patient rights and utilize established mechanisms for management of ethical issues in patient care. They will also demonstrate active participation in QI processes, comply with hospital expectations to meet staffing demands, and adjust staffing for census and acuity.
A minimum requirement for this role is an Associate's degree in Nursing, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. The candidate must be licensed to practice as a RN in South Carolina and hold BLS certification. In lieu of RN licensure upon hire, a temporary license/Graduate Nurse licensure may be accepted upon receipt of diploma, authorization to test, and NCLEX testing date.
