Prepared Foods Order Specialist

Join our team as a Prepared Foods Order Specialist at Whole Foods Market, where you'll play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective ordering of prepared foods products. This dynamic position involves purchasing, replenishing, and merchandising products, as well as participating in regional programs for purchasing and promotions.
About the RoleIn this key position, you will be responsible for monitoring inventory control and replenishing product. You will also assist in organizing and developing promotional displays and maintaining OTS standards.
Responsibilities- Purchase and replenish food for preparation through proper buying procedures.
- Monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits in an accurate and timely manner.
- Control spoilage and shrink, achieve turn goals, and participate in inventory.
- Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
- Assist with counter service and cooks as scheduled or as necessary.
- Communicate with Kitchen Manager/Chef and Team Leader on ordering needs and issues.
- Maintain positive working relationships with vendors.
- Work with Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader(s) to cost recipes.
- Oversee customer special order procedure.
- Support leadership in conducting inventories.
- Meet and exceed purchasing and sales targets to maintain financial profitability.
- Ensure timely arrivals to work stations, appropriate grooming, dressing, and readiness to work; attend all scheduled shifts and required trainings and meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer needs promptly and effectively, modeling suggestive selling techniques, answering phones and pages courteously, and maximizing sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising procedures.
- Follow established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment, ensuring equipment is kept according to WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
- Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; verify accuracy of signs and pricing.
- Report any safety hazards or violations immediately.
- Extensive product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, advances, and trends.
- Ability to create and negotiate price bids.
- Familiarity and willingness to learn about products, nutritional information, and other areas of study.
- Working knowledge and application of all Prepared Foods merchandising expectations.
- Complete understanding of WFM margin program and profitability.
- Ability to educate team members on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Knowledge and ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to fellow team members, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions.
- Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.

- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
- Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
- May require ladder usage.
