Central Supply Clerk Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Central Supply Clerk to join our team at the Montowese Center for Health & Rehabilitation. As a Central Supply Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining adequate amounts, records, and organization of facility stock necessary for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Keeping the Central Supply area fully stocked and keeping units stocked
  2. Ordering supplies and compiling purchase orders
  3. Receiving supplies and stocking Central Supply storage
  4. Checking invoices, shipments, unpacking, etc.
  5. Distributing, collecting, and filling floor supply lists
  6. Checking, removing expired supplies as noted
  7. Obtaining supplies for floors on other than usual day, when needed
  8. Maintaining records of chargeable items for billing purposes
  9. Maintaining inventory
  10. Removing and disposing of any expired items in inventory
  11. Functioning as a liaison between the Nursing Department and vendor when necessary
  12. Ordering and distributing office supplies
  13. Maintaining a log of the serial number, warranty, and date of purchase of durable medical equipment
  14. Collecting unused equipment from the units

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in health information management or related field preferred
  • Prior experience working in medical records management, preferably within a long-term care facility or healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, CPT), and healthcare documentation standards
  • Previous experience in ordering supplies and compiling purchase orders
