Surgical Care Unit Nurse

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Progressive Care Unit team at LewisGale Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient-centered care, working collaboratively with medical providers to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in status.
- Perform procedures or functions as ordered by medical providers.
- Document administration of care in patient medical records in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor response.
- Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
Requirements
- Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program is required.
- BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing is preferred.
- Current licensure as an RN in the state of Virginia or current multi-state compact RN license with eligibility to practice in VA is required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
