Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Management Specialist to join our team at Army National Guard Units. This is a permanent, full-time position that requires strong organizational and communication skills.

About the Role: As a Traffic Management Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the Defense Movement Coordinator with planning and preparation of unit movement plans and management of military convoy operations. You will assist in coordinating peacetime and mobilization movements of units using military transportation assets, prepare and execute training and contingency movement plans, and provide technical assistance in reviewing and validating Unit Movement Plans (UMP) and Unit Movement Data (UMD).

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Defense Movement Coordinator with planning and preparation of unit movement plans and management of military convoy operations.
  2. Coordinate peacetime and mobilization movements of units using military transportation assets.
  3. Prepare and execute training and contingency movement plans.
  4. Provide technical assistance in reviewing and validating Unit Movement Plans (UMP) and Unit Movement Data (UMD).
  5. Assist in coordinating highway availability, restrictions, and permit requirements with State Departments of Transportation.
  6. Process requests for use of the Strategic and State Highway Network within the state.
  7. Obtain and issue approved permits.
  8. Coordinate movements directly with local, state, and federal agencies.
  9. Issue Convoy Movement Orders (CMO) which provides assigned routes and scheduled movement times to convoy commanders.
  10. Plan, coordinate, and participate in exercises involving military, civil defense, state or local echelons of government, in practice alerts, command post exercises, field training exercises, and emergency operations simulations.

Requirements:

  • This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
  • Military Grades: E5 to E8; WO1 to CW3; 01 to 03.
  • Compatible Military Assignments: 88N, 88M, 882A, 88A, 90A, 92A, 89A.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. However, a degree in a relevant field such as logistics, transportation, or business administration may be preferred.

Salary: The estimated salary for this position is $63,340 - $81,244 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
