Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Tech II to join our team at UCLA Health. This is a per diem position that requires excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process surgical instrumentation in a decontamination setting, including assembly and sterilization of instrument trays.
  • Operate steam and H2O2 sterilizers, sonic equipment, washers, heat sealers, and dumb waiter.
  • Store, date, and rotate supplies according to TJC and CMS guidelines.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A working knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile fields, and the principles of an Operating Room decontamination.
  • Demonstrated skills in proper maintenance and cleaning of instrumentation.
  • The correct use of various decontamination equipment and instrument/tray sterilizers.
  • A working knowledge of bacteriology and medical terminology.
  • Oral and written skills to collect and relay information accurately.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all staff.
  • The ability to perform calmly during emergent and/or stressful situations by taking appropriate action.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • The correct usage of proper English grammar and vocabulary to orient and train team members.
  • The ability to lift surgical trays weighing up to 25lbs and handle surgical case carts weighing up to 200lbs.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited Sterile Processing program or Surgical Tech program.
  • At least 6 months of working experience in Sterile Processing.
  • CRCST certification (IAHCSMM).
Estimated Salary

$45,000 - $55,000 per year.
