POSITION OVERVIEW
This role involves moderate complexity and requires interaction with the public, court officials, and various agencies. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage frequent interruptions, maintain appropriate courtroom decorum, and exercise discretion. Proficiency in computer operations, technical skills, and multitasking are critical for the successful execution of daily responsibilities. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for collaboration with colleagues and management.

Flexibility in work hours is necessary to accommodate a rotating schedule for first appearance duties, which includes an additional pay rate for those shifts (note: this extra compensation is not included in the posted wage).


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes the Clerk's Case Maintenance System (CMS) Benchmark to initiate and uphold court case documentation.
Handles case filings via electronic submissions through the state E-Filing Portal, as well as paper documents and other sources.

Performs tasks in various queues within the CMS, adhering to established timelines or as directed by supervisory personnel.

Prepares for and participates in court hearings, documenting relevant information on forms, taking minutes, managing evidence, administering oaths to witnesses, overseeing jury attendance, and fulfilling other courtroom responsibilities as needed.

Processes and manages cases and documents received from court, mail, in-person submissions, or electronic filings. Ensures proper execution and notifications to other agencies as required by protocol.

Reviews and redacts sensitive and confidential case information prior to public access in compliance with applicable judicial administration rules.

Provides assistance to the public and court personnel via phone, in-person at the counter, and in court, while researching case records to furnish necessary information.

Willingness to work overtime or flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, depending on court trial schedules is required.

Additional duties may be assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Windows-based applications and proficiency in modern office technology are required. Candidates must pass a typing assessment with a minimum of 35 correct words per minute.

Exceptional communication and organizational skills are mandatory; the ability to apply initiative and sound judgment is crucial for this role.

Excellent handwriting is essential, as much of the work involves handwritten documentation that must be legible.

The ideal candidate must collaborate effectively as part of a team and thrive under pressure. They should promote a culture of continuous improvement, take responsibility for the quality and timeliness of their work, and seek clarity on any unclear issues while maintaining the highest ethical standards and fostering an environment of transparency and confidentiality.

Compliance with all Clerk's policies is required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience demonstrating attention to detail in data management, preferably in an automated systems environment and legal context. Additionally, at least one year of customer service experience is necessary.


TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency in computer operations, including data entry, particularly in Microsoft Windows, is essential.

LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capability to write basic correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, and other organizational employees.


MATH SKILLS
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Capability to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATIONS
A valid Florida Driver's License or Florida Identification is required for the hiring process.
