Job Title: Registered Nurse

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at CCA Central Arizona Detention Center. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to inmates/residents, including administering medications, conducting examinations, and developing treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and provide comprehensive nursing care, including following Licensed Independent Providers' orders.
• Dispense and administer medications and assist in examinations and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Apply nursing and supervisory techniques required in the care, treatment, and referrals of inmates/residents.
• Attend sick calls with the physician; prepare inmates/residents list for examinations and set up examining room and equipment.
• Operate pill call, dispense medication, and document as required by policies.
• Contact Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders and manage emergencies.
• Assess and examine new inmates/residents for illnesses or injuries; refer them for further care as required.
• Perform emergency procedures as necessary and notify providers for treatment orders.
• Assist in coordinating professional medical services provided by contract personnel.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when necessary.
• Supervise and guide nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
• Maintain good working relationships with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and outside provider agencies.
• Use established policies and procedures to make sound independent judgments.
• Evaluate medical services to avoid inappropriate use or overuse.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all medical records.
• Assist in reviewing medical files to ensure all services are documented.
• Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses closely.
• Audit pharmacy use for compliance with formulary and applicable laws.
• Observe and record inmate/resident behavior.
• Inspect the medical unit for contraband; securely store or dispose of supplies and equipment.
• Provide health counseling and education on an individual or group basis.
• Prepare and maintain a variety of records, reports, and logs.
• Read, analyze, and interpret medical and technical procedures, and legal requirements.
• Evaluate and recommend safety requirements for a safe working environment.
• Facilitate accreditation of the medical program by providing efficient and appropriate services.
• Prepare safety and accident reports; respond to serious incidents and emergencies.
• Escort or coordinate the movement of inmates/residents for medical purposes.
• Perform searches to detect contraband.
• Engage in functions within confined areas, including working rotating shifts.
• Take appropriate action to prevent or diffuse disruptive situations.
• Perform rescue functions, including administering basic emergency medical aid and securing people from confined areas.

Requirements:
• Current licensure in the state of employment.
• One year of professional nursing experience preferred.
• English proficiency: speak, read, and write.
• A valid driver's license is required.
