Clinical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cytogenetics Technologist Trainee to join our team at Labcorp. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for processing clinical specimens and performing technical procedures to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Process clinical specimens from patients referred for cancer cytogenetic diagnosis
- Perform tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
- Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
