Job Summary

We are seeking qualified Journey Line Workers to join our team at FirstEnergy. As a Journey Line Worker, you will be responsible for building and maintaining electric power systems, restoring electric service to customers, and performing various tasks related to line work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test, frame, and set poles; climb poles, work in confined spaces; splice and terminate cables.
  • Work with live circuits; set grounds; work in trenches, manholes, and confined spaces.
  • Install and replace equipment, meters, and streetlights.
  • Operate hydraulic equipment, including drills, boom trucks, diggers, pole tamers, hydraulic jacks, and bucket trucks.
  • Operate lift equipment, such as aerial lifts and line truck booms.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections.
  • Provide on-the-job training, orientation, demonstration, and assistance to apprentice linemen.
Requirements
  • Completion of a federal or state-sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved supporting documentation.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with electric utility or a utility lines construction contractor.
  • Valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
  • Passed a DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
  • Ability to wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to pounds.
  • Ability to work and drive in all types of weather and road conditions.
  • Capable of working extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
