**Upbound Cloud Engineer Opportunity**

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join our team at Upbound. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a key role in building and maintaining our flagship SaaS offering, Upbound Cloud.

**Company Overview**

Upbound is the company behind Crossplane, an open-source project that revolutionized the control plane in the cloud-native community. Our Universal Cloud Platform powered by Crossplane provides real-time visibility into all infrastructure environments, a Kubernetes-like approach to managing infrastructure and policies, and self-service infrastructure capabilities.

**Key Responsibilities**

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Actively build and maintain high-quality code for Upbound Cloud.
  • Take ownership of building features in high demand by Upbound's customers and deliver new functionality that delights and amazes users.
  • Communicate through thoughtful design documents for new initiatives.
  • Support the full project lifecycle for highly scalable and reliable services running in a cloud environment – discovery, analysis, architecture, design, review, documentation, building, migration, automation, deployment, production-readiness, and support.
  • Write and maintain Go code that interfaces with the Kubernetes API, such as operators, controllers, add-ons, etc.
  • Deploy and manage Kubernetes services.
  • Author documentation, user guides, and blog posts to support and promote new features.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support Upbound Cloud.

**Requirements**

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience building and operating Go-based microservice distributed system architectures.
  • Comfort with Kubernetes.
  • The ability to take responsibility and ownership for solving problems even if they are outside their lane.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Empathy for customers and a focus on creating solutions that meet their needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with the team.
  • A willingness to learn and grow with the company.

**What We Offer**

We offer a competitive salary of $180,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including health insurance, retirement planning, and paid time off. We prioritize work-life balance and provide a remote-friendly work environment.
