Highly Skilled Sterilization Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterilization Technician to join our team at Equiliem in Cincinnati, Ohio. The salary for this role is estimated to be around $60,000 - $80,000 per year.
About the Job:
- This is a 13-week contract position, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 PM to 11 PM.
- The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience in Central Service and hold a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, clean, and disinfect instruments and equipment used for patient care, adhering to correct manual and mechanical processes.
- Operate equipment used in the decontamination process, such as sonic washers, cart washers, washer sterilizers, and decontaminators.
- Clean tasks in the work area as assigned.
- Use universal precautions when working in the decontamination area, including gloves, face shields, and protective gowns.
- Rounds throughout the facility to retrieve reusable instruments and equipment and transport them back to the Sterile Processing Department.
- Unload instruments from washer sterilizers and distribute them to appropriate workstations.
- Assemble instrument trays and packs using written instructions and proper protocol.
- Check instruments for sharpness and proper functioning.
- Recognize and memorize a large variety of instruments.
- Apply sterilization wrappers properly to maintain the integrity of the contents.
- Utilize a heat sealer on packs as needed.
- Identify each item correctly on the outside packaging of each item.
- Load sterilizer carriages and transport trays to the sterilization area.
- Check trays, packs, and basins on sterilizer carriages to ensure correct procedures have been followed.
- Operate various types of sterilizers, selecting the correct cycle and time period required for specified loads.
- Knowledgeable of all methods of sterilization, including Sterrad and Steam.
- Accurately document all sterilization information, either manually or through the use of a computer.
- Perform biological monitoring according to departmental policy.
- Handle sterile instruments and supplies properly and restock them in the sterile storage area, rotating items as necessary.
- Monitor equipment continuously to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Obtain surgical preference lists from the computer to pull supplies for each case.
- Label the location of instruments and supplies to increase efficiency.
- Perform a quality control final check before items leave the department.
- Restock, store, or return procedural carts to their designated areas.
- Fulfill requests from the OR and Pre-op/PACU as needed.
- Assist with one-on-one training of other associates.
- Respond to emergency codes when required.
- Follow instructions and departmental guidelines regarding sterility.
- Attend departmental-in-services and mandatory meetings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all areas in the Sterile Processing Department.
